I wonder what Ruth Reichl's going to do now....
Gourmet magazine ceases publication

News that Gourmet magazine, the legendary chronicle of fine food and dining, will cease publication after 68 years surprised many who cherished the glossy as a passport to a world of cooking.
Citing declining ad sales, parent Conde Nast said earlier this week that Gourmet's November issue would be its last. Declining ad sales also contributed to the shuttering of other Conde Nast magazines, Modern Bride, Elegant Bride and Cookie.
The glossy food photos were alluring, of course. But the reason many people purchased the magazine was to read its articles and recipes. Some of Chicago's most renowned chefs and restaurateurs considered it an inspiration.

Wow, that is so crazy. Thank you for sharing. Maybe it will provide her with writing material. :) I hope it ends well for her.
ReplyDeletethat IS sad.....now i feel like i want to follow ruth reichl's life. perhaps she'll come out with another cookbook
ReplyDeleteWHY OH WHY DID REICHL LEAVE NYT?
ReplyDeleteI had a feeling thus would happen once she left - after reading her book, I believe she loved the place, its just that the disguises and evrything else distracted her. She needs to look at things in a new perspective.
