Should I Start Being Healthy or Continue to Pig Out?

Recently, I have noticed that everytime I go to the dining hall, I skip right over the "healthy" section. The healthy section consists of fresh vegetables and deli. You can make a salad or even order a sub just like you would at Subway. However, I can never see myself giving up the grilled foods, such as cheeseburgers, grilled cheese sandwiches, chicken sandwiches, etc. for a lousy salad. I am interested to see if I am just a fat kid who doesn't really care too much for salads and vegetables or am I like everyone else. Please let me know your preferences for when you go to the dining hall. Thanks :)

  1. I've found that I do that a good bit myself, though I do love to go to the pasta area when the line isn't atrocious. I actually had a salad the other day, and its wasn't too bad, but I find that the little bowls they give are too small to actually make a good salad.

  2. I have found it very hard to eat healthy here. The only things that taste good are the unhealthy foods. However I must say that I always make myself a salad from the salad bar. This helps me justify in my mind eating so much fatty food. :)

  3. Pizza, hamburgers, french fries and ice cream have been my personal favorites whenever i go to eat. However, i noticed the same thing, and have started limiting my choices to lunch and eating healthier for dinner. Often times they have all sorts of vegetables and foreign foods for dinner, and its not full of carbs. Just my personal observation, so thanks!

  4. i don't like the healthy stuff either :c they don't have balsamic vinagrette, which is the only type of salad dressing i use with my salads. also, it doesn't taste too good. i love the burritos, the cheeseburgers, and ice cream :D

  6. Frankly I eat burgers, fries, and pizza everyday. It is irresistable to eat those food. But I eat all other kinds of food at the dining hall for my own health. You should take care of your health and what you eat. Food is what becomes you.

  7. I think the main cause for Freshman 15 is stress and in turn, freshmen pig out to relieve or the stress itself causes the body to inhibit digestive mechanisms long enough to cause a weight gain.

    We walk alot throughout campus and if you are on east, you have freshman hill to burn any weight you gain. For west folks, we have the fun of walking to Skiles with no aide from the bus (which can be quite the walk).

    However, it would still be wise to eat vegetables/fruits alongside the nicer plates e.g. BBQ and pizza. An easy route for vegetables I'd think would be getting the sandwiches from the dining halls. They're good and are light so you can always have more of something else.

  8. Though it is obviously better for you to eat good food most of the time, you can still get away with eating unhealthy foods as long as you control your portion sizes. If you eat a cheeseburger and a handful of fries, that is still ok, but if you have 5 slices of pizza a double bacon cheeseburger and a plate of fries, that would be really bad for you.

  9. I put on at least ten pounds weight since I came here. I think it is because I have unlimited meal plan and I always go to dining hall whenever I want to eat.
    To lost my weight, I prefer to go to gym than have a diet because it is more healthy. You can plan to visit CRC about 3 times every week if you have enough time~

  10. I'd eat salad over burgers XD
    But I do eat other food available because salads are not fulfillingㅡㅡ;
    The main reason I prefer salads to burgers is because.... some times the patties for the burgers are burnt really badly lol

    Either way I'm getting fatter because the badness of the food makes we stressed and when I get stressed I eat more :(
