Dr. T says a few words.

Hi E3 Foodies,

I'm posting just to let you all know that I appreciate the energy and dedication that many of you put into making this blog what it is! And I also appreciate the recent exchange of ideas (and at times heated debate) that's been going on concerning how much effort/time/good grammar/quality control/thoughtfulness/etc. should go into this blog.

But I'm also not going to intervene in this debate as I'd like all of you to take your interactions on this blog not only as an opportunity to engage with the course material (food!) but also to learn how to interact with peers in an online environment in a way which is respectful and fruitful.

Sometimes it's inevitable that tensions will rise in online group environments such as this one. But the important thing is not to get too personal, too rude, or too brash. Conflict isn't necessarily bad, but when conflict gets too personal or unpleasant, it can create an environment of unpleasantness and awkwardness, which in general will decrease the quality of posts and participation!

Sincerely,
Dr. Tiff
