Taking From Dining Halls

So I'm sure a lot of us have heard interesting stories of stuff being taken from the dining halls, either with the special cups we were given or with the napkins provided. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard of any funny/amusing stories of people taking stuff.
One time I had gone to Brittain and a person who had been sitting with me got up and went to the salad bar. He was out of cooking oil, so he filled his cup all the way up with the oil they provide as dressing (this was a while back and I don't think they have it anymore).
Another person I know had taken out a bowl of ice cream and a spoon one time when there was an ice cream bar.
I think it is so creative what people take out sometimes. The most I have taken is like ten bananas and several tea bags.

  1. The only thing that I have taken was a sandwich for my breakfast during Monday mornings.

  2. Wow i hope we get some better stories than this...

Personally, I've only smuggled out burgers and hot dogs. How do I do it? While it may sound kinda gross, I actually wrap them up in several napkins and then stuff them in my pockets. I have to make sure that no grease gets on my pants, and also that no pocket lent gets on my food, but other than that it works great. I've walked out with a burger in each pocket before

  3. I pretty much just take fruit and tea bags. Although I have taken several pieces of silverware for use in my dorm room. One time however I did see a student dump an entire plate full of food into a container that he put into his bag. It was quite a funny sight.

  4. SMUGGLING OPERATION # 1467:
At 2017 hrs on Monday 11/02/2009, I smuggled out 5 different kinds of ice-cream from Woodruff Dining Hall. However, by the time I got back to my residence hall, I realized two of them had melted. In my pocket. Not good.

  5. I wish I had better stories to tell but all I got is...

Every time I go to the SC with my boyfriend and we get something from the Asian restaurant, he'd pack a handful of chopsticks into his backpack.

Back when a Easter hunt event happened near my house, I asked my father to hold some chocolate candies for me. He put them into his pockets and the following evening he found his pockets filled with melted chocolate.

  6. Heres a good one. I can't say where I heard this, but it was from a very reliable source. Anyone familiar with Brittain knows that there are two sections, divided in the middle by a semi-see through pair of walls (that nonetheless make it difficult to know what is happening on one side of the hall while occupied in the other). Anyways, a group of people staged a fight in the north side of the dining hall. While the staff were occupied with stopping the fight, a group of cohorts in the south side of the hall unbolted a waffle iron from the counter on which it sat, hid it under a trenchcoat, and walked out with a GT waffle maker. Pretty awesome.

  7. I gotta say I have also taken many things from the dining hall, sometimes I feel like a criminal but ya know. Whatev.
But this one time this girl was trying to take some fruit back to the dorm with her. So she went up to the stand and took a couple apples and pears which she then put into her bag. One of the cooks went up to her and actually started to chastise her in a very loud voice that attracted the attention of everyone surrounding. The lady then opened her bag and took out the fruit.
Now, I understand that maybe it's not fair to everyone else taking so much fruit BUT are we not paying like $1,500 for our meal??? Don't we deserve some fruit to take back to our dorms? Just a thought.

  8. I am with Alyssa on this one. Every time I leave, I take with me at least two pieces of fruit, depending on where the managers are. I'm sorry, but I am paying 40 grand to come here, the least they can do is provide me with fruit and tea bags. I know each of those apples is maybe 20 cents a piece. So really, how much damage are we really doing. It's not like it's going to waste. Plus, it evens out the times when I go into the dining hall and realize that there's no food I can eat. (I have really bad acid reflux which practically controls my life) The least they can do is provide me with the food I KNOW I can and will eat.
