copyright!

Today morning, I was going to take some pictures about Woodruff's breakfast. I thought Woodruff's breakfast is better than Brittain's. When I turned on the camera and was ready to take a shoot, a lady stared at me--
"Sir, you cannot take pictures," she said seriously.
"It is for homework." I explained.
"I am sorry, but you are not allowed to take pictures," she repeated, "I am sorry."
"Fine......but why...," I turned off camera. I guessed she was going to repeated "You are not allowed to take pictures," so I just left.
I felt frustrated and a little angry. Why I cannot take picture? Is it because of the copyright of dining hall? Do they think I am going to steal their secret recipes?

  1. I took a picture of a ladybug in the salad once in woody. A LADYBUG!!! Maybe the salad its toooooo fresh... probably they are afraid you are doing stuff like this. That is pretty annoying. They are kinda harsh sometimes plus even there is a secret recipe nobody would care since the food is not that good. Errr

    ps. happy birthday again!

  2. It probably has nothing to do with a secret recipe, considering the food is for the most part, normal (tasty though). They probably don't want people spreading propoganda (truth) against the dining halls, with evidence to support it.

  3. I have definately taken pictures of the food at Britain before. This leads me to the conclusion that Woodruff sucks.

On a more serious note, it is more likely along the lines of what Omega has said. You should just do it anyways (although be sneaky) its not like they can punish you for taking a picture of some food.

  4. haha that's quite amusing. perhaps next time you could just take food and put it on your plate, then proceed to take a picture

  5. I'm pretty sure any "secret recipes" at Woodruff is a little over the top, but that's still strange. My guess is that most of the workers don't really care what you do, but there's always a few sticklers. Maybe try again another day and see if you get a different response.

  6. Were you trying to take a picture at your table or in the line? If you were just standing in the line with a camera, I can imagine that they may get a little irritated , but if it was at your table that is pretty ridiculous

  7. hahaha thats actually really funny, i can see no reason why they would not let you take pictures except to irritate you

  8. Perhaps she thought you were going to use the pictures against them. Next time, try to take the picture when there are many people and use zoom in function instead of standing right in front of the food.

  9. You can use a cell phone to take picture next time, and remember, turn off the flash. So that they will not realize you are taking picture. Maybe they will just think you are sending text message ^.^

  10. Take it anyway and tell her she has no right telling you that. Maybe like Alec said, its a conspiracy to annoy college students (and it's working). Elizabeth also made a good point, you can take them at your table since you are less likely to be bothered there.

  11. This doesn't suprise me. When I have eaten at that dinning hall the people are very stingy. They seem to have a negative attitude toward everyone. Brittains has always been cool about me taking pictures in the dinning hall, but then again I have never tried to take any of the food. Maybe that person was just having a bad day.

  12. I find that the Woody's people are a lot stricter than the employees at Brittain. At Brittain I have been able to bring friends in with no real hassle, but at Woody's they get mad at you for breaking the rules, even though they never really tell you what the rules are in the first place.

  13. This seems like this one time when I went to McDonalds and tried to take a picture inside of the place. I was told immediately to turn off any type of recording device I had. I think since Supersize Me areas that serve food have become very strict so could that possibly be a reason to the no camera requirement???

  14. Wow that is crazy. I think it is probably just to be a pain, lol. They seem to do things that make no sense just to have something to get annoyed at. I still haven't eaten at Britain because Woody's is much more convenient, but I have heard that the people there are much nicer. I can only think of like 3 or 4 nice(er) people at Woody's. It doesn't make sense to not let you use your camera, to not let us eat salad on a plate, or get ice-cream in a bowl plus other ridiculous things. I don't think they can actually enforce these "rules," so I don't see why you couldn't go back to get pictures. Maybe it does have something to do with the "Supersize Me" influence like Alyssa said. If you were taking pictures in line though, that would be inconvenient to others and I could see them having a problem with that.
